Slack Community Guidelines

Our Slack Community guidelines

Why a Slack Community?

We provide a Slack community for all of our customers to:

  • Work collaboratively
  • Ask questions
  • Stay in the know about updates
  • Share wins
  • Network

SEO can be intimidating, so this is a space to ask questions, learn, and celebrate wins together. In order to preserve that space though a few guidelines are needed.

Code of conduct

Be respectful of every member, remember there is another person on the other side of the screen when you send a message.

This community is a space to ask questions, learn, and get support. Reports of the following behavior will be reviewed and can result in exclusion from the community:

  • Harassment of other members
  • Judging and making fun of other members
  • Insulting, putting down, or telling insensitive jokes about other members
  • Excessive swearing
  • Excessive self-promotion and soliciting members for your services
  • Requesting a link swap

Channels

Use channels whenever possible, this helps segment conversations and invites the group into a discussion with you.

Default channels

  • #general - all-purpose and misc channel
  • #introductions - introduce yourself!
  • #product - product updates and announcements
  • #suggestions - share suggestions for the community and/or product

SEO channels

  • #seo-questions - ask a question about SEO!
  • #seo-wins - share an SEO win with the community

Taking part in discussions

  • Do not double post — select the best channel for your message and post it only once.
  • Avoid asking questions in DM. If you ask your question in a public channel, others will also benefit from the answers.
  • Use threads. They help to keep the discussions more organized.
